Appliance cycle energy cost calculator

Open an exact model and cycle to see a low-to-high energy estimate, then use your ZIP code or utility-bill rate to calculate cost per cycle, month, and year.

These are planning estimates, not meter readings. Appliance settings, load size, inlet temperature, sensors, venting, fuel type and utility pricing can move the real result outside the range.

How the location estimate works

  1. Your ZIP code is sent to Zippopotam.us to identify the state. Cycle Time Now does not save it.
  2. The calculator inserts the state's August 2026 average residential electricity price from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
  3. The cycle's estimated kWh range is multiplied by that price. Gas-dryer pages also include an editable dollars-per-therm field.
  4. Your loads-per-week setting produces monthly and annual ranges.

A state average is not your utility's exact tariff. For a better estimate, divide the electricity charges on your bill by total kWh and enter that cents-per-kWh result manually. Fixed monthly fees are excluded.

How cycle energy is estimated

Dishwashers

Published gallons, when available, inform a water-heating range. Cycle type, sanitation, speed and drying behavior adjust the range.

Washers

Ranges reflect cycle temperature, maintenance heating, spin-only operation and typical machine energy. Water-heating by a household water heater may vary.

Electric dryers

Ranges reflect cycle duration, heat intensity and sensor behavior. Air-only cycles are treated separately.

Gas dryers

Electric controls and motor use are combined with an estimated therm range for burner fuel.

Confidence labels

Medium confidence means the manual provides useful cycle characteristics or water information, but not a cycle-level meter result. Low confidence means the range relies more heavily on appliance-type and cycle-name assumptions. Both are intentionally broad.

For purchase comparisons, use the model's official yellow EnergyGuide label. For your own appliance, a plug-in energy meter or whole-home energy monitor provides stronger evidence than any web estimate.
