How it compares

French, European and Italian programs use longer rises for lean doughs with little sugar or fat. Several manuals say they are not suited to recipes with butter or milk.

When will the bread be ready?

Pick a start time to see when to add mix-ins and when it finishes, or enter when you want it ready to get the start time and the delay-timer setting.

Uses the manual's printed total time. Room temperature and a cold start can change real-world timing slightly; delay-timer limits come from the manual.

    Timer and manual notes

The delay timer can be set up to 13 hours. The time you set includes the working time: for Basic 2 lb, 13:00 means 9 hr 35 min of delay plus 3 hr 25 min of baking.

Oster lists one time per setting for 2 lb loaves and says times are approximate based on loaf size. The Rapid crust setting (Basic, French and Whole Wheat only) cuts the total by about an hour.

When this oster ckstbrtw20 french setting time makes sense

For Oster CKSTBRTW20, the useful planning number is 3 hr 35 min—but program choice should come before stopwatch choice.

Best fit: Choose this profile when a longer rise and a crisper, leaner result are the goal.
Check first: The longer timetable is intentional; substituting a rapid program can change crumb and crust rather than simply finish sooner.

The duration comes from newellbrands.imgix.net; practical planning notes are editorial context and do not replace the manual.
